Keys scientist dead at 86 David Keys, a former McGill professor and scientific adviser to the president of Atomic Energy Canada died Friday in Montreal. He was 86. Born in Toronto. Dr. Keys obtained an M.A.

degree from the University of Toronto and tnen received doctorates from both Cambridge and Harvard Universities. He was a full professor-physics at McGill University for 25 years, resigning in 1947 to become vice-president (scientific) of the National Research Council in charge of the Atomic Energy Project at Chalk River. He was involved in antisubmarine research during the First World War and during Second World War was director of the radio-mechanics course given to RCAF men at McGill University. He wrote numerous scientific papers on electricity and geophysics and pioneered the development of the cathode-ray oscillograph. He received honorary doctor of science degrees from McMaster, McGill and Toronto Universities and was a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada and of the American Physical Society.
